Ecco un'altra delle mie serie preferite: Lost.
Se devo essere sincero, tuttavia, inizialmente l'ho ignorata per un bel po' di tempo, anche perchè mi dava noia il dover avere un appuntamento fisso in televisione (anzi, a dirla tutta la televisione in pratica non la guardo più, eccezion fatta per il calcio).
Inoltre le serie tv hanno la brutta abitudine di essere piazzate proprio in quei giorni in cui tu non puoi perchè hai degli impegni fissi.
Risultato: sapevo che c'era questa serie di grande successo in cui dei superstiti di un volo intercontinentale avevano a che fare con un'isola misteriosa, ma non l'avevo mai vista.
Poi, un amico mi ha convinto a darci un'occhiata, prestandomi i dvd con le prime serie belle pronte. Fantastico: molti episodi già disponibili e nessun vincolo di orario, proprio come piace a me... Inizio a guardarla e, morale della favola, non smetto più.
Anzi, il mio livello di interesse è diventato tale che anticipo gli episodi doppiati in italiano guardando la serie americana, ovviamente opportunamente sottotitolata (il mio inglese non è così buono...). Anzi, devo dire che in lingua originale rende pure meglio.
Che dire di Lost? Ci sarebbero tante cose da dire, ma mi limito a solo due.
La prima è che contiene una marea di spunti. Letteralmente: non fai in tempo a capire una cosa, che subito spuntano fuori nuovi indizi, nuovi personaggi, nuove situazioni, nuove implicazioni.
La seconda è che ci devono aver messo dentro qualche additivo chimico, perchè una volta che ti appassioni hai bisogno della tua "dose".
Per Friends, la prima serie che ho recensito, avevo incluso nella recensione una breve descrizione dei protagonisti principali... che però sono solo sei...
In Lost la mole di personaggi è esagerata, ma, paradossalmente, pur essendovi ovviamente personaggi più centrali di altri, molti di essi (e parlo di decine e decine di persone) sono molto ben caratterizzati, e ognuno addentro alla storia a suo modo, tanto che ciascuno ha una sua importanza... e spesso continua ad averla pure da scomparso o da morto!
Altra caratteristica di Lost è infatti quella di essere spesso crudo, tanto nelle immagini quanto nelle situazioni, pertanto attendetevi sangue e comportamenti discutibili a profusione.
Anzi, praticamente tutti i protagonisti della serie tv sono personaggi in chiaroscuro, ognuno con i propri segreti e scheletri nell'armadio, tanto che, e forse questa è stata la bravura principale dei produttori, non è facile tracciare una distinzione tra buoni e cattivi.
Persino la contrapposizione tra sopravvissuti e "altri" non è così chiara, come non era chiara quella tra gli altri e i componenti del gruppo Dharma.
La serie procede a spezzoni, raccontando in parte il presente (ossia la difficile vita sull'isola) e in parte il passato (tramite dei flashback volti a caratterizzare meglio i singoli protagonisti). Nella parte avanzata della serie vi saranno anche dei flashforward, ossia delle anticipazioni di eventi futuri rispetto al periodo dell'isola... che tuttavia, anziché chiarire, renderanno il tutto ancora più complesso!
Come detto, ogni personaggi della storia è importante, persino alcuni che muoiono più o meno subito, determinando così un certo corso degli eventi. E ognuno ha i suoi pregi e i suoi difetti, di modo che non ve ne è uno in assoluto migliore. Posto che descrivere tutti sarebbe troppo lungo, mi limito ora a scrivere due righe su chi mi piace di più e perchè.
Sawyer: presentato come "cattivo", come alter-ego di Jack, è diventato col tempo il mio personaggio preferito. La sua ironia è irresistibile, così come i soprannomi che distribuisce a piene mani.
Kate: ok, è un'assassina. Ok, è ricercata dalla polizia, e anzi è proprio l'incidente che le restituisce la libertà. Ok, fa le fusa un po' a Jack e un po' a Sawyer. Ma come si fa a non tifare per questa ragazza così bella e decisa?
Locke: col passare delle puntate, è divenuto chiaro che l'alter ego di Jack non era Sawyer, bensì proprio John Locke. Il primo è la ragione; il secondo è la fede. Il primo crede in ciò che vede; il secondo crede in ciò che percepisce. Il primo è un dottore, chirurgo spinale; il secondo è salito sull'aereo in carrozzella, e una volta sull'isola ha ripreso a camminare, a dispetto della schiena spezzata. Chi avrà ragione dei due riguardo all'isola??
Hugo: come si fa a non tifare per questo ragazzone tanto grosso quanto gentile e generoso? Non a caso, Hugo (o Hurley) è un po' la mascotte del gruppo, e spesso si rende utile nel tenerlo coeso.
Ana Lucia: ah, Ana Lucia, così ruvida e diretta, mi è piaciuta da subito. Forse, anzi, il suo carisma e la sua presenza erano troppi per non condizionare il gruppo e la storia... e infatti... peccato...
Ben: ebbene sì, Ben mi piace parecchio. Come dicevo prima è difficile stabilire con certezza buoni e cattivi. Certo, Ben è un po' cinico e un po' manipolatore, ma in fin dei conti è quello che sull'isola la sa più lunga di tutti... e finora non si è sbagliato mai...
Desmond: vale più o meno il discorso fatto per Hugo. Non possiede carisma da leader, ma ha tanta generosità e sensibilità, tanto da mettere spesso in pericolo la propria vita per salvare quella degli altri (vedasi le numerose volte con Charlie). L'accento scozzese poi è molto divertente (ma questo lo si apprezza solo in lingua originale!).
Mister Eko: un altro personaggio piuttosto misterioso, e come molti altri dal passato oscuro. Forse è quello che più di tutti, insieme a Locke, intuisce la vera natura dell'isola.
Claire: stesso discorso fatto per Kate, benché per ragioni diverse. Come si fa a non simpatizzare per una ragazza così bella e delicata? La simpatia peraltro è aumentata dalla maternità.
Sayid: pure lui non era esattamente uno stinco di santo, ex miliziano iracheno e torturatore della Guardia Nazionale... però pare essersi pentito del suo passato, e ora sembra una brava persona...
Richard: a proposito di chi è buono e di chi è cattivo, oppure a proposito di personaggi misteriosi… questo Richard pareva non avere un ruolo di primo piano, e invece praticamente c’è sempre, sia quando i superstiti arrivano sull’isola, sia quando Altri e Dharma si scontrano, sia quando Locke era appena bambino… e il bello è che lui è sempre uguale! Su di lui mi attendo dunque grandi rivelazioni...
Jack: ma sì, dai, pure Jack mi è simpatico. Benché all'inizio tenda a sembrare un po' troppo boyscout per i miei gusti, mentre alla fine tenda a fare troppo il leader. Però è una brava persona, dai.
